    WODEHOUSE, MARJORIE K.

Marjorie K. Wodehouse, 97, passed on peacefully from this life June 14, 2016. She was born to Harry H. and Helen D. Kohl in New York City on September 11, 1918 and was raised in Red Bank, N.J.
It was in Red Bank that Marjorie met the love of her life and future husband, Charles J. O. Wodehouse. She graduated from Skidmore College and worked for the McGraw Hill publishing company, but with the onset of World War II and Charlie’s imminent overseas deployment with the U. S. Army, she resigned to marry and start a family which eventually included a daughter, Priscilla, and son, Charles J. O., Jr. (Chuck). With Charlie’s return from the war, Marjorie was the quintessential marital partner, providing a loving environment for their children and grandchildren, selflessly supporting Charlie’s successful business career with N.J. Bell Telephone Co., and being active herself in many community, church, and other philanthropic activities.
After 35 years of marriage Marjorie and Charlie were able to fulfill their retirement dreams by purchasing a home in 1978 in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. They fell in love with everything Ponte Vedra and, happily, Ponte Vedra loved them back. Idyllic days included golf, tennis, the beach, friends and time spent with their grandchildren. They were again active in community and church affairs, particularly Christ Church and its many outreach functions.
Marjorie was preceded in death by Charlie and her grandson, Spencer J. O. Sullivan. She is survived by Priscilla and Chuck (wife, Camilla), a grandson, Charles J. O. Wodehouse, III (wife, Amanda), a granddaughter, Carey C. Wodehouse, and 4 great-grandchildren, Spencer T., Austin J. O., Madeline H., and Britton O. Wodehouse.
The family will hold a private memorial service. Arrangements are under the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
