WILSON, SAMUEL D.

Samuel D. Wilson, 79, of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. Sam was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Dorothy and Dwight Wilson.
He was raised in Jacksonville Beach and graduated from Fletcher High School in 1954. Sam received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1958. Upon graduation from college, he served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. Sam and his wife Judy owned and operated a small hotel in the South Florida area for 35 years, and moved back to Jacksonville Beach upon their retirement.
Sam had a wide range of hobbies and interests including the collection of antiques, nautical related artifacts and art work.
He is predeceased by his twin sister, Dorothy (Dottie) Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Judy, to whom he was married for 52 years. He is also survived by his children: Holly (Mike) Carroll of Coral Springs, FL and Scott (Becky) Wilson of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Erin, Brandon, Matthew and Daniel; as well as his brothers, Dwight Wilson (Gloria) and Gilbert Wilson (Beverly).
It was Sam’s wish not to have a memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam’s memory may be made to Vitas Healthcare, Jacksonville, FL (Hospice) or Beaches Chapel School, 610 Florida Boulevard, Neptune Beach, FL 32266.
