Russell Quentin Summers Jr., 80, passed away May 13, 2016.  He was born July 2, 1935 in Oradell, NJ. He was the son of Russell Quentin and Eleanor Culbert Summers. After college, Russ lived in Baltimore, MD until he retired to Ponte Vedra Beach in 2010.
Russ graduated from The Hun School in Princeton, NJ where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. He graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, MD where he was a varsity athlete and a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. After serving for two years in the U.S. Army, Russ worked as a juvenile probation officer in Baltimore County for two years, followed by 15 years with Moore Business Forms. He worked for Willamette Industries for 15 years, serving as the Baltimore-Washington D.C. district manager. After retirement from Willamette, Russ established his own small business, Palm Tree Printing.
Russ and his wife lived for 26 years in Worthington Valley in Baltimore County in a historic home which had been built in 1840. He was a former member of Baltimore Country Club. After moving to Ponte Vedra Beach, Russ volunteered for the Council on Aging Memory Enhancement Program, and for the Flower Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Churchmen, and the Sawgrass Country Club.
Russ is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Susan Ritchie Summers; a daughter, Susan Gaddis (Rob) of TN; a son, Russell Quentin Summers, III of MD; a stepdaughter, Pamela Smith of MI; a sister, Jane Fink of NJ; five grandchildren and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL on Friday, June 17 at 10 A.M., followed by a reception at the church. Burial will be in Maryland later in June.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082 or to St. John’s County Council on Aging, 180 Marine Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
