Claude McDonald, 87, of Jacksonville Beach, passed away July 26, 2016. He was born in Albemarle, NC on November 11, 1928. Claude married Jean McDonald on August 29, 1953 and after 56 years of marriage, she passed away in 2009. Retired from the US Navy after a distinguished career, he began working for the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. He was a member of the American Legion and the US Naval Institute and had a passion for reading and cross-word puzzles.
Claude is survived by his daughters, Claudia L. McDonald Hays and Cynthia Suzann Corwin (Brad); grandchildren, Sydney Honas Hays IV and Madison Corwin; and sisters, Joyce Mauldin (Tommy) and Janette Rogers (Hubert). In addition to his wife, Jean, Claude’s brother, Jack McDonald, is deceased.
The family plans to have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or to The Friends of Jacksonville Public Library (FJPL).
