Sandra Frank, of Neptune Beach, Fl, born March 13, 1938, Jacksonville Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, in Jacksonville Beach, FL on August 15, 2017, following a five year fight with cancer. 
There will be a visitation on September 22, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., FL from 6:00pm to 8:00pm; Services will be on September 23rd at Oceanside Church of Christ, 1025 Snug Harbor Court, Atlantic Beach, FL beginning at 10:00am. There will be a small family gathering at the home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society.
Sandy is preceded in death by her late husband John Frank of Burlington, NC, her parents Etta Mae Johnson and retired Army Master Sergeant Robert B. Johnson, of Jacksonville, FL, two brothers Retired Air Force Major Robert Johnson, PA, and Charles Johnson, Neptune Beach, FL.
She is survived by two siblings, Donald Johnson and Juanita Stallings; three children, Sherrin Colley Hecht (Larry) Kevil, KY, SusanPeters(Terry) Jacksonville Beach, FL, Bill Colley (Linda) Elk Grove, CA, and one stepson, Jeff Frank, NC. 13 grandchildren, Jocelyn Vickers Hill(Jason) Jacksonville, FL, Megan Roberson (David) Jacksonville, FL, Lisa Hecht, LaCenter, KY, Karie Hecht, Jacksonville, FL; Sarah L. Peters, Mount Dora, FL, Emily Peters (Michelle) Jacksonville Beach, FL and Jacob Peters, Jacksonville Beach, FL; Jennifer Richardson (Charles), Elk Grove, CA, Stacey Colley, San Francisco CA, Amanda Colley, Sacramento, CA, and Ashlyn Colley, Sacramento CA; Matthew Isley (Beth), Burlington, NC, Ryan Isley (Shannon) Burlington, NC; Teri Mahon (Guy), Burlington, NC. 16 Great-Grandchildren, Tyler Hecht, Hunter Flanagan, Kensey Flanagan, Sydney Hobbs, Paris Hobbs,  Michael Roberson, Alexandria Roberson, Kylee Vickers, Owen Richardson, Zoey Dunphy, Kaitlynn Isley, Madison Isley, Eric Mahon (Courtney), Chris Mahon, Brandon Mahon and Nick Mahon.
A native of Jacksonville Beach, FL, her father was active military which meant that the family traveled giving Sandy the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Europe. The family returned to Jacksonville Beach, FL and she completed her high school education, graduating from Fletcher High School. Following graduation, she married and   moved to Groton, CN and a year later moved to Galveston, TX.  Several years later she returned to Jacksonville Beach, FL. She went to work for the State of Florida, Bureau of Vital Statistics. Later she was elected to the Board of the State’s Federal Credit Union. Sandy worked for the State of Florida from 1964-1982.  She was actively involved in her children’s lives: being a Girl Scout mom, a Cub Scout Den mother, coaching the CYO girls’ softball and basketball teams.  
In January, 1982, she married John Frank and moved to Graham, NC. Not long after moving to Graham, a job opportunity presented itself in Burlington, NC and she and Jay relocated to Burlington. She went to work in Burlington at the Wachovia Bank, and worked her way up to a management position. Soon after, she moved over to the BB&T Bank and then moved on to open a new bank as a share holder and assisted in naming it the South Trust Bank.
In 1996 Sandy was selected to carry the Olympic Torch for the XXVI Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, GA, USA. This was not only an honor.  
Sandy was a Breast Cancer survivor. She was active in the local church. Following the deaths of her Mother and Husband, Sandy decided to return home with her father, to Neptune Beach, FL. She was a member of the Oceanside Church of Christ in Atlantic Beach. She was the Matriarch of the family. Whether a family member or a friend, you could always count on Sandy for whatever your need might be. She was a special person to many with a penchant for proper etiquette – always!! If you were to ask anyone about her, the common response was “she was a great lady, who helped a lot of people”.
