Mary Arthur Courville Dobrowolski (July 16, 1928) passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2016 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert “Dobby” Dobrowolski, Jr. in 1993, Mary is survived by her only son Herbert “Buster” Dobrowolski, III and daughter-in-law Jace (Christovich); grandson Thomas; granddaughters Jennifer, Cristin and Cathryn; and numerous nieces and nephews and life-long friends to whom she remained close and loved dearly.
Mary enjoyed a nearly fifty year career as a banking trust officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana – forty with Fidelity National Bank/Hibernia – before relocating to Jacksonville to be with her son and family in 2003. Nicknamed “Monkee” by her sisters as a child – which stuck as an affectionate moniker for life – she was a charming southern gentlewoman with a quick, dry wit and a streak of French that let you know when she meant business. Her joys in life included her grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud, reading, word puzzles, flowers, Wheel of Fortune, a weekly visit to her favorite salon and keeping up on family, neighborhood and world news. She was always positive and kind, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends over a meal or over the phone. She brought joy to many.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or St. Aloysius Catholic School Annual Appeal Fund, Baton Rouge, LA.
